Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is San Dieguito Academy's Tenth in Last 13 Outings

San Dieguito Academy hadn't done well against Canyon Crest Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 6-2. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 7-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lauryn McGarry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Willow Wright was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

San Dieguito Academy has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Dieguito Academy will square off against Oceanside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will challenge Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Caimans have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
