Basketball Recap: David Shaw Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Francis De Sales

While Southland College Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 77-72 victory over the St. Francis de Sales Pioneers on Friday. This was payback for Southland College Prep, who suffered a 63-59 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Southland College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Shaw led the charge by shooting 4-for-6 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double on 25 points and nine assists. The game was Shaw's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabryel Patterson, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 26 points.

The win made it two in a row for Southland College Prep and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for St. Francis de Sales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Southland College Prep and Clark will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. After both having extra time off, St. Francis de Sales and St. Laurence will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
