Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Lobos vs. Riverside Rangers

The Mountain View Lobos will head out to take on the Riverside Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mountain View took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Clint by a score of 58-49. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Lobos considering their 24-point performance the game before.

Mountain View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diego Gonzalez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Those 15 points gave Gonzalez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Omar Nevarez, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Riverside posted their closest win since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They skirted past Fabens 54-51. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but the Rangers were the better team in the second half.

Riverside's win came from a few key players Mountain View will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Richard Arellano, who scored 14 points. Juan Salgado was another key player, putting up ten points.

Riverside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Mountain View strolled past Riverside in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 53-38. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Riverside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
