Carver is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Upson-Lee is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Carver Tigers will take on the Upson-Lee Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carver will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Carver walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Academy of Richmond County 40-2 at home. Carver might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 21 points or more this season.
Jacobie Hunter was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. De'ante Childs was another key contributor, rushing for 114 yards on only eight carries.
Upson-Lee never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Savannah Country Day last Friday. They pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over the Hornets.
Upson-Lee found their leader in underclassman Nicholas Wells, who threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Ja'Quan Bentley, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Carver's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Upson-Lee, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Carver has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 254.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Upson-Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 221.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
