The Grace Christian Crusaders put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Bishop McGuinness 60-43. Given Grace Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Bishop McGuinness is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sarah Strong continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Icyss Storm was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Bishop McGuinness still got an impressive performance from Adelaide Jernigan, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Varner, who scored nine points.
Grace Christian's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-0. As for Bishop McGuinness, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian will face off against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop McGuinness won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carver at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
