Mt. Carmel scaled the state rankings by moving to 226 from 269 this week, the biggest jump in Valley. The Sundevils climbed the ranks as a result of topping San Marcos 31-28.
Valley Center lost to San Pasqual 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Parker Lappin threw for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 16-20 with 0 interceptions.
Kyle Hurst was a key player and the best on defense this week as Del Norte bested Orange Glen. The 6-foot-3 senior forced 1 fumble and racked up 1 sacks.
Lappin put up the best numbers in passing as the Nighthawks defeated the Patriots. Lappin's favorite target this week was Quenton Meeks, who caught 4 passes for 104 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Lappin of Del Norte is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,514. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Isiah Hennie. The San Marcos star has 62 catches for 1,149 yards.
Mt. Carmel's Davion Fuller is a mere 99 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 130 carries Fuller has accumulated 901 yard this year.
