White Station is 0-3 against Lakeland Preparatory since March of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The White Station Spartans will welcome the Lakeland Preparatory Lions at 4:15 p.m. White Station will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
White Station is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Memphis East get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Wednesday. Considering the Spartans have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Demarcus Covington made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Covington was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, White Station let Hayes Bennett and Cooper Walter run wild. Bennett scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1, while Walter scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Andrew Rambo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
White Station always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lakeland Preparatory's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Wednesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Lakeland Preparatory saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Pitts, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
White Station pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeland Preparatory, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. White Station hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Lakeland Preparatory struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
