The South Harrison Hawks's game on Wednesday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Calhoun 59-54. South Harrison lost against Calhoun in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-19 score last time.
Calhoun had a senior duo take command as Landon Bennett scored 21 points along with six rebounds and Dylan Buckius scored 21 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bennett has scored at least a third of Calhoun's points. Caden Jones was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Harrison has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Calhoun, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
South Harrison will head out on the road to square off against Clay County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Harrison is coming into the match with eight straight losses on the road, meaning Clay County will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Calhoun, they will be playing at home against Paden City at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Calhoun is facing Paden City at the right time seeing as Paden City is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
