Westfield (Chantilly, Va.) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 28-14 victory over
Oakton (Vienna, Va.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Chris Mullins to
Devon Burns in the first quarter, the Bulldogs led 21-7 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 14.
The Cougars'
Kyle Downer played well. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 21 touchdowns on the season.
Mullins was the top performer for Westfield. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
WHS had given up an average of 16.4 points prior to the contest. Oakton's 14 points were well below its season average of 33.3 per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Chantilly school came away with a 35-10 victory.
Westfield (8-0) goes up against Centreville in a AAA Concorde game matchup next week, while Oakton (6-2) locks horns with Robinson also in a AAA Concorde game.
