Basketball Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats vs. Port Aransas Marlins

Refugio hasn't had much luck against Port Aransas recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Refugio Bobcats will square off against the Port Aransas Marlins at 6:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Refugio sitting on 12 straight victories and Port Aransas on five.

Refugio will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Woodsboro on Tuesday. Everything went Refugio's way against Woodsboro as Refugio made off with a 54-30 win. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Refugio got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bradi Fox-Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The matchup was Fox-Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jazaelynne Lewis was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, Port Aransas earned a 41-34 win over Yorktown on Tuesday.

Refugio is also on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season. As for Port Aransas, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-8.

Refugio was able to grind out a solid win over Port Aransas when the teams last played on January 7th, winning 43-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Refugio since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
