Cortez is 6-1 against Vista Grande since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cortez Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vista Grande Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Cortez has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 519 points over their last eight games.
Cortez put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Coronado with a sharp 67-41 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Cortez has posted since December 20, 2023.
Cortez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devan Fowler, who scored 23 points along with eight assists and three steals. Ulysses Espinoza was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, Vista Grande was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 57-52 to Tempe. Vista Grande has struggled against Tempe recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Cortez's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Vista Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
