The Curlew Cougars pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Mary Walker 87-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (57), Curlew still had to take the loss.
Curlew's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Thompson, who scored 19 points. Thompson scored a full 32.8% of Curlew's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Logan Ringstad, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Teko Cates continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mary Walker, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Cates' tenth in a row with at least ten points. Conner Wickham-Barkuloo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Curlew's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mary Walker, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
