The Holcomb Longhorns came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They escaped with a win against Scott by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Halle Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 36 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Galliart, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Holcomb pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Scott, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Holcomb will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Riley County. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Riley County is ranked 61st, while Holcomb is ranked 68th). Scott will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hugoton at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
