The Colonie Central Wolfpack will take on the Schalmont Sabres at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Schalmont took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Colonie Central, who comes in off a win.
Colonie Central barely beat Guilderland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolfpack never let the Flying Dutchmen get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Monday. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Riley Brooks looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Figueroa, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Eric Graves was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Colonie Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guilderland only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Schalmont came up short against Ichabod Crane on Tuesday and fell 4-1. The Sabres have struggled against the Riders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Colonie Central pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Schalmont, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.
Colonie Central took their win against Schalmont when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 20-1 score. Will the Wolfpack repeat their success, or do the Sabres have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
