The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 72-44 loss at the hands of Victory Christian Academy.
Mater Dei Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lincoln Grogan, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Jefferson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Victory Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angel Escarcega led the charge by scoring 19 points along with three steals. Escarcega is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derek Edmond, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds.
Mater Dei Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Victory Christian Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
