Baseball Recap: York Comes Up Short

York was the 6-5 winner over Oak Park-River Forest when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dukes fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 12-10 on Monday. The Dukes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Josh Fleming and Luke Pieczynski stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fleming went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double, while Pieczynski went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Fleming is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Nick Allen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

York's record is now 18-7. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-8.

While York had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
