Lapel has gone 8-2 against Wapahani recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Lapel will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Eastern Hancock, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Royals a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Bodenhorn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Stires, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Delaney Balser was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Lapel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern Hancock only posted a batting average of .211.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wapahani). They put the hurt on Randolph Southern with a sharp 16-0 win on Friday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Like Lapel, Wapahani also got a great game from a two-way player: Zoey Koger. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Koger was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Clair Murrell was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Keele, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Lapel's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Wapahani, their victory bumped their record up to 2-12.
Wapahani's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lapel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Wapahani, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Lapel's hitters?
Everything went Lapel's way against Wapahani in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Lapel made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
