Football Recap: Annapolis Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bowie

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Annapolis walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Bowie Bulldogs 37-6. Considering the Panthers have won three contests by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Annapolis can attribute much of their success to De'Myen Gray, who rushed for 155 yards while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Those 155 rushing yards gave Gray a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Zyhir Neal, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Annapolis proved: they limited Bowie to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Roman Stramanak for the heroic effort on defense: he. Annapolis is a perfect 3-0 when they shut down the run game so well.

Annapolis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Stramanak led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He also forced onefumble, which is notable because Annapolis is 3-1 when he posts at least one forced fumble, but 2-4 otherwise. The Panthers got some further help from Rion Jackson: he picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles.

Annapolis has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.6 points over those games. As for Bowie, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Annapolis will venture away from home to square off against Broadneck at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
