They strolled past Hondo with points to spare, taking the game 67-50. Given Lytle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 626th, while the Owls are ranked 1373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lytle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Guevara, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Lytle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for Hondo, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-23 record this season.
Lytle will head out on the road to challenge the Javelinas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 678 points over their last eight matches. As for Hondo, they will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Natalia is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
