The Holmes County Central Jaguars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over Yazoo City. The result was nothing new for Holmes County Central, who have now won five matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.
Holmes County Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jartavious Smart, who rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Garrison Davis, who threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns.
Holmes County Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Terrance Hibler and his two sacks.
Holmes County Central's victory was their fourth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.8 points per game. As for Yazoo City, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Holmes County Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Cleveland Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Yazoo City, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
