Xavier (Middletown, Conn.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 35-14 win over
Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, Conn.).
The Falcons put up 14 points in the opening frame. Xavier scored on a kick return, a touchdown, a touchdown run and a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a kick return in the first quarter, XHS led 21-7 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 14.
Kevin Kirshner played well for the Jesuits. The senior ran for one touchdown.
Tim Boyle stood out for the Middletown school in the win. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The Falcons also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 35-0.
The loss comes after Fairfield Prep defeated East Haven 47-0 last week. With the win Xavier extended its winning streak to three games. The loss snapped Fairfield Prep's 2-game winning streak.
Xavier (3-0) will play a Southern Connecticut Division I - West game against Hamden next week, while Fairfield Prep (2-1) will take on Shelton also in a Southern Connecticut Division I - West game.
