The Basic Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Green Valley 67-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenny Williams, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alvonte' Nelson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Basic were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brock Barney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Green Valley, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Barney's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Gaston Zumaya was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Basic's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-9. As for Green Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Basic will take on Sunrise Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sunrise Mountain is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Green Valley, they will be playing at home against Bonanza at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonanza is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
