On Friday Florence will take on South Pike at 7:00 PM. South Pike will need to watch out since Florence have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
After flying high against Raymond two weeks ago, Florence came back down to earth. Florence didn't finish too far behind, but the team still lost 35-40 to McComb last Friday. A silver lining for Florence was the play of junior Ian Vaughn, who picked up 109 yards on the ground and threw 4 TDs. If you haven't heard Vaughn's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past nine games.
Meanwhile, South Pike might be getting used to good results now that the squad has four wins in a row. They steamrollered Lanier 62-22. Followers of South Pike probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected six blowout victories.
South Pike's victory lifted them to 7-2 while Florence's loss dropped them down to 3-6. After the lofty point totals in their previous games, we'll see if they're able to heat things up even more while facing each other.
