Calhoun Academy proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 15) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Sidwell Friends Quakers 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Cavaliers sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Cullen Sightler made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Sightler wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Strickland, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Crews Felder was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
