Ella Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Isabeau Hoff was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Claire Yates was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Bountiful kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
While Clearfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Bonneville with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Like Bountiful, Clearfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Jenna Lloyd. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Lloyd was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.
In other batting news, Addyson Haddock and Lyla Leonhardt did most of the damage at the plate: Haddock scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Leonhardt scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Haddock also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Lara, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bountiful pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Clearfield, their record now sits at 7-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bountiful has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bountiful took their victory against Clearfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Does Bountiful have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clearfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
