Brevard (N.C.) 42-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Speir in the first quarter, the Mustangs led 27-0 at the half.

Speir stood out for the Sylva school in the win. The sophomore quarterback kicked one extra point.
The Mustangs had struggled this season, allowing 35.9 points per game.
A 21-14 Smoky Mountain victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for SM, which was coming off a 50-20 defeat at the hands of East Henderson in its previous game.
In a non-conference game next week Smoky Mountain (3-6) takes on Rosman, and Brevard (0-9) will go up against North Henderson in a 3A/2A WNC game.
