Perry is 8-2 against Edgewood since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Pirates will host the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Perry 3.2, Edgewood 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Perry is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Jefferson Area get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Not much got past Sophie Sivon, who gave up just three hits to keep Jefferson Area off the board. Sivon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Perry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Rupert, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Edgewood waltzed into their game on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Rockets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 17, 2024.
Lucianna Paolillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addy Lamson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Ianetta, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Edgewood's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.
Everything went Perry's way against Edgewood in their previous matchup back in April, as Perry made off with a 6-0 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
