After a string of three wins, the Lyon County Lyons's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 65-53 loss to Daviess County. Lyon County has struggled against Daviess County recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Daviess County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Beehn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. The game was Beehn's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Lane, who scored 23 points.
Lyon County's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Daviess County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyon County will challenge Livingston Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Livingston Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Daviess County, they will head out on the road to face off against Muhlenberg County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Muhlenberg County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Daviess County is ranked 46th).
