Despite the defeat, Meadowbrook Academy saw an underclassman step up: Tico Smith scored 25 points along with 3 steals. The game was Smith's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Ross, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Meanwhile, Countryside Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 53-36 bruising from Riverside Christian.
Meadowbrook Academy's victory bumped their season record to 2-3 while Taylor's loss dropped theirs to 2-1.
Meadowbrook Academy beat Countryside Christian 45-38 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Meadowbrook Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
