After flying high against Blue Ridge Christian last Friday, Heartland came back down to earth. The Heartland Mustangs took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Training Center Christian on Monday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Training Center Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Creed Lopez out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Lopez has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more points the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Doll, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.
Heartland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Training Center Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Heartland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-56 win against Christian Learning Center on the 17th. Training Center Christian will take on Independence Home School in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
