The Hugo Buffaloes were the 20-14 winner over the Spiro Bulldogs when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hugo took a 30-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spiro on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Hugo has lost by exactly nine points.
Jayka Santillan threw for 160 yards and a touchdown. Quincy Shelton was his top target, picking up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, LaMarcus Davis rushed for 49 yards.
Hugo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Spiro, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hugo will square off against Eufaula at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. One thing working in Eufaula's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Spiro, they will head out on the road to face off against Heavener at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Heavener is ranked 130th, while Spiro is ranked 147th).
