Glenpool is 0-9 against Pryor since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Glenpool has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Claremore hit Glenpool with a six-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Eli Winters was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Terronez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Pryor had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Buffaloes by a score of 9-4. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly five runs.
Gavin Roberts made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Carter Sloan was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Clinton Stohler, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Pryor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Glenpool's loss dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Pryor, their record now sits at 21-10.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Glenpool has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Pryor struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glenpool came up short against Pryor in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
