The Howell Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kalamazoo Central Maroon Giants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Howell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Kalamazoo Central likes a good challenge.
Howell barely beat Belleville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Highlanders were the clear victors by a 57-36 margin over the Tigers on Friday. The Highlanders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Bryce Kish had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 54 yards and three scores. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Brody Stack also deserves some recognition as he posted his first receiving yards of the season.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Howell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 94.8 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 227.3.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Kalamazoo Central's strategy against Norrix on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Maroon Giants blew the Knights out of the water with a 54-10 final score. That looming 54-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Maroon Giants yet this season.
Kalamazoo Central's win came from a few key players Howell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emmanuel Carter (Kc 10), who rushed for 45 yards and a pair of TDs.
Kalamazoo Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Geramiah Crawford was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself.
Kalamazoo Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Howell, their record is now 8-1.
Everything went Howell's way against Kalamazoo Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Howell made off with a 35-12 victory. In that game, the Highlanders amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
