The McDonough Rams were the 18-16 winner over the La Plata Warriors when they last played one another back in September of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. McDonough had to suffer through a rough 39-12 loss at the hands of La Plata. McDonough's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
La Plata was led to victory by Jayden Wills and Mekhi Prather. Wills threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes, while Prather picked up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Prather's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
McDonough's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for La Plata, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McDonough will face off against Calvert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvert presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than McDonough in Maryland (Calvert is ranked 22nd, while McDonough is ranked 181st). As for La Plata, they will head out on the road to face off against Gwynn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gwynn Park's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches.
