Tiverton is 1-6 against Narragansett since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tigers will take on the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. Tiverton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season.
Tiverton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cranston East, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Tiverton was ranked tenth). The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Thunderbolts on Monday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Thunderbolts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Lia Doster made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lucy Stearns was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Sara Poland was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Tiverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cranston East only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Narragansett fell victim to Central and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Mariners' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Narragansett's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Tiverton, their record now sits at 14-1-1.
Tiverton got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Narragansett by a conclusive 21-13 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
