Pershing County has gone 9-1 against Silver Stage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. Pershing County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Pershing County took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sierra Lutheran, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Ayden Montes made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pershing County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-2 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Montes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Silver Stage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost 17-4 to North Tahoe.
Landen Wolf made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Wyatt Welch was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Pershing County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-10. As for Silver Stage, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pershing County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Silver Stage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Pershing County's way against Silver Stage when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Pershing County made off with an 11-0 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Nighthawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
