Softball Recap: East Marion Has No Trouble Against Amite County

East Marion won the last time they faced Amite County and things went their way on Monday too. The East Marion Eagles were the clear victor by a 19-4 margin over the Amite County Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kylie Watts made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs but no hits. Watts was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Kayleigh Allen was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Zi'Kiya Bridges was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

East Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .605 or higher in three consecutive matches.

The win got East Marion back to even at 4-4. As for Amite County, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

East Marion has already played their next game (against Resurrection Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Amite County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on March 24th.
