Golden State Prep suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against KIPP King, falling 80-46. Golden State Prep was down 66-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Golden State Prep had strong showings from Biren Lowe, who scored 13 points, and Emanuel Rodriguez, who scored 12 points. Rodriguez's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
David Rogers was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 19 rebounds for KIPP King. Rogers is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Ja'mauri Woodfolk was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six steals.
Golden State Prep has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for KIPP King, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden State Prep will take on Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for KIPP King, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lighthouse Community at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
