The North Pontotoc Vikings will be home for the holidays to greet the Vardaman Rams at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
North Pontotoc's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 59-39 walloping at the hands of South Pontotoc. While losing is never fun, North Pontotoc can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while South Pontotoc is ranked 50th).
Meanwhile, Vardaman was beaten by Houlka 73-40 on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Vardaman let down their fans at home.
North Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Vardaman, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5.
