If the Sunset Knights were feeling good off their 52-27 takedown of the Coral Park Rams last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sunset fell just short of Florida Christian by a score of 43-41. The contest was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but Sunset couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, Sunset still got an impressive performance from Bianca Pacheco, who scored 17 points along with five steals. Andreina Perez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Florida Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabriela Ruiz, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Leah Perez, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Sunset has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Florida Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Sunset won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Varela at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th. Varela is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Florida Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Downtown Doral at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
