It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Holy Family had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over the Thompson Valley Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Kaden Hopkin threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Leopardi was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. On the ground, Browen Wills rushed for 46 yards.
Thompson Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Closz, who picked up 126 receiving yards and one score. Closz showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 52 yards. Finley Lucas was another key signal caller, throwing for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Holy Family's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Thompson Valley, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-4.
Coming up, Holy Family will venture away from home to take on Mead at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks' defense has only allowed 8.2 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. Thompson Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
