The Midway/Minto Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, the stars were shining brightly for Midway/Minto in a 59-42 win over Larimore.
Meanwhile, even though Maple River scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg still came out on top. Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg beat Maple River by the very same score they won with last week: 71-59. Given Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in North Dakota, while Maple River is ranked 250th in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midway/Minto's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Midway/Minto was taken down by Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg 78-29 in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can Midway/Minto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
