Basketball Recap: Ke'miyah Buggs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fayette Ware over Middle College

Fayette Ware was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Middle College Bulldogs. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 62-59 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Fayette Ware lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ke'Miyah Buggs, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Buggs has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more points the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Morgan Crutcher, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Fayette Ware smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Leading Middle College to victory were Gabrrielle Rudd and Khalia Claxton. Rudd dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Claxton went 6 of 8 on her way to 15 points. That's the most points Rudd has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Crutchfield, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Fayette Ware's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Middle College, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Fayette Ware will venture away from home to take on KIPP Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Middle College, they will host Manassas at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
