After losing to the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars the last time they met, the Northfield Norsemen decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Northfield strolled past Lakeland Christian Academy with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 49-34.
Northfield was led to victory by Elli Baker and Hannah Holmes. Baker scored 12 points, while Holmes dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Hoffman, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Reimink, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Reimink hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Dayton Sibert, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Northfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-10. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Miami at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. North Miami is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, they will play host again and welcome Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakeland Christian Academy in Indiana (Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian is ranked 132nd, while Lakeland Christian Academy is ranked 361st).
