Carlin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Owyhee Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-10, which was the final score in Carlin's tilt against the Bulldogs on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Carlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 25th).
Owyhee has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They suffered a rough 62-40 loss at the hands of McDermitt on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Owyhee in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.
Carlin dropped their record down to 3-15 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.1 points per game. As for Owyhee, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.
Carlin was dealt a bruising 56-23 defeat at the hands of the Braves when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can Carlin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
