The Bishop's Knights will head out to face off against the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop's is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Bishop's came up short against Escondido Charter and fell 7-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.
Bella Bravo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Stafford, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Jolla Country Day). They put the hurt on Orange Glen with a sharp 20-1 win on Tuesday. The Torreys haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ayla Desai made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Desai was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Josephine Criado was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Givens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Bishop's loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for La Jolla Country Day, their record now sits at 5-10.
Bishop's took their win against La Jolla Country Day in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Torreys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
