Berkeley Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Bulluck, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Martha Calhoun, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Rocky Mount Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but GRACE Christian had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Saints 12-3. Considering the Eagles have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Vercellino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Audrey Lester was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie McDowell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
GRACE Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Rocky Mount Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
