The Arleta Mustangs will take on the Taft Toreadors at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Arleta sitting on four straight wins and Taft on three.
Arleta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on North Hollywood with a sharp 11-3 victory. 11 seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

NAOMI TACHIN made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, ADRIANA VASQUEZ DURAN and BRENDA AGUILAR did most of the damage at the plate: VASQUEZ DURAN went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while AGUILAR went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was BRYGETTE RAYGOZA, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Taft got the win against Poly on Friday by a conclusive 14-5. Considering the Toreadors have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Arleta, Taft also got a great game from a two-way player: Chiara Cioffi. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Cioffi has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with one run.
In other batting news, Jordy Aardahl was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Savannah Munoz was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Taft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Arleta's victory bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Taft, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 9-12.
Everything went Arleta's way against Taft when the teams last played back in May of 2018, as Arleta made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
