Baseball Game Preview: American Patriots vs. Dade Christian Warriors

The American Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Dade Christian Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, American came up short against Hialeah Gardens and fell 7-4. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Gladiators: they've now lost three in a row.

Dante Vitola put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Vitola was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Anthony Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of American's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Matthew Mu?oz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Dade Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Keys Gate.

Dade Christian also got a good showing from Jonathan Rios, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rios has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Yenizon Reyes was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

American's record now sits at 2-9. As for Dade Christian, their record is now 10-12.
