You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Wilson Central Wildcats's strategy against the Smyrna Bulldogs on Friday. Wilson Central was the clear victor by a 62-39 margin over the Bulldogs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wilson Central also won the last time the pair played last Monday.
Smyrna's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Syrus Satterwhite, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Satterwhite pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jalylle Batey-roberts, who scored 13 points.
Wilson Central's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Smyrna, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Central will take on the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Trousdale County is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Smyrna, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Cookeville is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
